Preemie Survives Birth at 30,000 Feet

December 30, 2007 By: Kristie McNealy Category: In the News

Earlier this year, a baby named Alfie was born at 25 weeks gestation, aboard a First Choice Airways flight from Manchester, U.K. to Crete. A quick thinking cabin crew including a retired nurse and ambulance driver, kept Alfie alive until the pilot could make an emergency landing. A flight attendant used a drinking straw to clear the babies lungs, and then performed CPR.

Alfie survived the ordeal, and eventually left the hospital weighing in at 5 lbs 5 oz. You can read a little more about the story here on the Sky News website.
